Part of our course work includes a book a week where we go through and practice skills such as character, setting, beginning, middle, end, checking for understanding, retelling, comprehension, and knowing the job of the author and illustrator. This last week our book was Snowmen at Night and I decided to make a glyph to go along with our story to tie our book into math and handwriting by making them answer the question What do snowmen do at night? Here are some pictures showing how they turned out, what they show, and some of the ways the students answered the question.
