Set up dramatic play so the students can pretend to have a birthday party and wrap presents and set up a party during center time

Paper
Pen
                Pictures of Characters

3.       Procedures:
a.       Introduction: Talk about the characters they previously made and remind them of their names
b.      Main activity: Have each child dictate a sentence using the format There’s a _____ in my ______. Write it down and take a picture of their character to create a book for the classroom.
c.       Closure:  Read the book to the class and allow children to take turns looking at the book
d.      Transition: Allow students to go onto center activities

4.       Suggestions for Simplification/Extension:
Have a child create a book for their character rather than just a sentence

5.       Assessment:  What method will you use to evaluate the objectives and child learning?
Observe the process and see if the students are using the materials to create items properly

1.       Goals/Learning Objectives: Progresses in abilities to create drawings, paintings, models, and other art creations that are more detailed, creative, or realistic

2.       Materials Needed: Different colors of clay or model magic

3.       Procedures:
a.       Introduction:  Talk about how many different characters were in the book “There’s a Wocket in my Pocket”  and talk about how characters are created and how they are going to have a chance to create their own characters
b.      Main activity: Allow the children to play with the clay for a little while at first to allow for exploration. After they have had a chance to explore ask them to start deciding what their character is going to look like and allow them to get the colors their character is going to be. Have them form their characters and let them sit
c.       Closure:  Ask the students what their character is and to give the character a name. Allow them to share with other classmates
d.      Transition:  Have the students go find their picture and pick a center

4.       Suggestions for Simplification/Extension:
Have the students try to create a name that will rhyme with some places their character could be and create a story about it

5.       Assessment:  What method will you use to evaluate the objectives and child learning?
Observe the process and finished product to see if the child has created a character and see if they have used the material effectively

Cat in the Hat Snack Lesson Plan

1.       Goals/Learning Objectives: Demonstrates increasing interest and awareness of numbers and counting in a means for solving problems and determining quantity
Following step by step directions

2.       Materials Needed:
Ingredients for one:
                Scoop of vanilla ice cream
                Mini ice cream cone wrapped with a strip of red fruit by the foot snack
                3 M&M’s Minis candies
                6 small pieces of twizzlers pull and peel licorice 
Paper plate for each child
Plastic spoon for each child 
3.       Procedures
a.       Teacher Preparations: use an ice cream scoop and scoop balls of ice cream onto a cookie sheet and then place sheet in the freezer. Cut red Fruit by the Foot snack into 4 inch strips. Wrap one strip around each cone. Arrange the supplies and ingredients for easy student access. Display the recipe cards by the materials for the students to follow.
b.      Introduction: Talk about the different numbers of items the students will need to create their snack and ask them to guess what they will be making with the materials
c.       Main activity: Have the parts of the snack set up at a table and have the student’s line up and follow the activity cards to create their snack. Have the students count out the amount of items they need and put them together
d.      Closure:  Ask the students what they have made with the number of items they have put together
e.      Transition:  allow the students to eat their snacks
